Emerald Coast. The ocean water does have a distinct green tinge
to it.
It is also called the Forgotten Coast although given all the people that were here for President’s Day weekend I think some of them must have remembered.
As for the Old Florida designation we have found vestiges but you do have to search them out. Actually it’s probably similar to Old Cape Cod. If you know where to look it’s there.
The Gulf Island National Seashore encompasses much of the barrier islands from here to New Orleans. We were on a stretch of Santa Rosa Island today that is part of the park. There is nothing but a solitary road between the dunes with the crashing sunlit
waves on one side and the Intercostal waterway on the other.
There are many people in this country who march to their own drum. The word career doesn't mean anything to them. Along this coast many folks just work so that they can fish, or surf and are very happy doing just that.
