After a few more hours in the Newseum we had seen almost everything and determined that we would have been happy with a third fewer exhibits. It was little bit too much to absorb and for those of us overachievers who have to see everything, this is a problem.
Then we headed across Pennsylvania Avenue to the National Gallery. After lunch within view of the always-soothing cascade waterfall on the lower level and then we separated with Harry heading for East Wing where he spent the afternoon trying to sketch (not happy with today's results) and taking photographs of the gallery spaces. Felling a bit more ambitious Marsha decided on the free Director’s choice audio tour of the West Wing Collections, which was just her cup of tea. Looking at beautiful objects, learning about the artists techniques, the subjects of the art and the artists themselves. It was lovely although tiring way to spend the afternoon. |
