Time to venture off to Apalachicola to check out the town and have some dinner. Oysters are the number one catch in Apalachicola and are sure to be on the menu.
Great Blue Heron With the sun shining and a clear blue sky we had a lovely drive this morning from Wakulla Springs along the gulf coast. Our destination was Apalachicola but we drove across the bay on the bridge to St. George’s Island and past the beach houses to the open spaces of the St. George’s Island State Park. Beach chairs and kindles in hand we settled down on a seemingly endless expanse of sand, sea and sky. Our companions were the gulls and sandpipers but there was also an up close and personal visit from a great blue heron and some unidentified mammals frolicking off shore. We each capped off the afternoon with a long solitary walk along the beach.
